In the Pacific War she was involved in 18 of 22 major naval operations. 15 times she was badly damaged, but the USS Enterprise kept returning to service, symbolizing the Navy's determination to achieve victory in the Pacific. In 1947 the USS Enterprise, affectionately known as the "Big E", was decommissioned and finally scrapped from 1958 to 1960. To this day she is the most decorated ship in the history of the US Navy. She was 189.1m in length, and was powered by 4 turbines which allowed her to reach a top speed of 35kn. She had a range of 8,000 nautical miles at a 18kn cruising speed and was armed with 8 x 20cm/50 3rd year type guns (4 twin turrets), 8 x 127mm guns, 12 x 25mm AA guns, and 12 x 610mm torpedo tubes and also carried six floatplanes. During WWII, the Tone was present at many of the major Pacific Theater engagements. At the beginning of the war, the Tone was present during the attack on Pearl Harbor and also went on to see action at the Battle of Java Sea, Battle of Midway, Battle of the Eastern Solomons, Battle of Santa Cruz, Battle of the Phillipine Sea, and the Battle of the Leyte Gulf. In July, 1945 the Tone, along with most of the surviving large Japanese Navy warships, was based at the Kure Naval Arsenal. On July 24th, Task Force 38 launched a large scale air raid on Kure and Tone was hit by three bombs which sank her.

Article number: 300078020 Product: 1:350 Japanese Destroyer Yukikaze January 20 1940 saw the completion of construction of the Japanese Kagero class destroyer. Along with her sister ships Hatsukaze, Amatukaze, and Tokitukaze, she became part of the 16th destroyer division under the command of the light cruiser Jintsu. At the beginning of WWII, the 16th destroyer division was part of the force which captured the Philippines, and on December 5 1941, she took part in the fierce fighting with American forces near Palau and supported the invading forces at Legazpi. After wards, she saw action throughout the Pacific Ocean at the Dutch East Indies, Midway, Guadalcanal, and the Solomon Islands. The Yukikaze also participated in the withdrawal of Guadalcanal,also participated in sea battles at the Marianas and the Leyte Gulf. Throughout WWII, the Yukikaze took part in numerous naval battles, escort duties, and supply runs, and always returned safely from each sortie. She was among the few Japanese warships and the onl yone of her class still operational at the end of the war, and can be called the "lucky destroyer." As part of the post-war reparation agreement, the Yukikaze was transferred to the Republic of China, and in 1966 she became a reserve training ship. This is a 1/350 full display model. Model depicts the Yukikaze as she appeared during the 1945 Ten Ichi Go operation (Battle for Okinawa). Parts included to build a waterline model or a display model with full hull. Submarine i-400 Created as part of a plan to attack major cities in the United States and the Panama Canal, the three I-400 class large aircraft carrier submarines were quite technologically advanced. Featuring an extremely long range and heavily armed with both torpedoes and deck guns, they were also equipped with catapults to launch their three Aichi M6A Seiran aircraft. While on their way to attack the Panama Canal, the submarines were ordered to attack the Allied naval base at Ulithi instead. However, hostilities ended before any attack could be launched. After surrendering to U.S. forces, the I-400 was eventually sailed to Hawaii, where they were studied and then scuttled. In 1943 she was commissioned as the second of six Iowa-class battleships. Ships five and six, the BB-65 Illinois and the BB-66 Kentucky, however, were no longer completed and ultimately dismantled again. Like the other Iowa-class ships, the USS New Jersey had a displacement of 45,000 tons, an output of 212,000 hp and was armed with nine 16-inch (40.6 cm) guns spread across three triple turrets (2 fore and 1 aft) with a maximum range of up to 40 km. The ships of the Iowa class were 270.4 m long and had a relatively narrow hull of a maximum of 33 m, so they could easily pass the Panama Canal.

Like her sister ship, the HMS Rodney, the Nelson had three triple 16-inch towers that were placed in the well-protected front half of the ship. She was temporarily the flagship of the Royal Navy and initially served mostly together with her sister ship. During the Second World War, the Nelson belonged to the Homefleet and was involved in the search for various German warships. From 1941 she supported the Allied landings in North Africa and later the landings in Sicily. When she supported the landing in Normandy in the summer of 1944, she ran into two mines. After her repair, she was deployed in the Pacific, then transferred to the reserve and scrapped in 1949. The TAMIYA kit model impresses with its accuracy of fit and attention to detail.

The construction of the giant Yamato-class ship began shortly after the Japanese defeat at Midway and was completed in November 1944. The total length of the Shinano was 266 meters, the carrier had a displacement of 62,000 tons. From the Yamato the Shinano inherited the strong armor as well as a reinforced flight deck that could withstand a direct explosion of a 500 kg bomb. Before its first deployment – on the way to an equipment quay – the vessel was discovered and torpedoed by an American submarine. Shortly afterwards the Shinano capsized near the shores of Shionomisaki. The Shinano is still the largest warship sunk by a submarine.

In 1986 the ship was completely renovated, modernized and equipped with the latest weapon technology. The Missouri was used one last time in the Gulf War and in 1993, after almost 50 years in service, she took her well-deserved retirement. Subsequently, at the Battle of Midway, the Yorktown and her sister ships USS Enterprise and USS Hornet defeated the Japanese Mobile Fleet, but the Yorktown herself suffered severe damage by torpedo and bomb hits from the aircraft of the Japanese carrier Hiryu. Heavy Cruiser Mogami The First Fleet Replenish Program of 1931 gave Japan a special allowance to build 50,955 tons worth of new light cruisers armed with 6-in guns. Construction of the new fleet began at Kure Naval Arsenal with the Mogami. The original Mogami was equipped with 5 triple 15.5cm gun turrets, 4 triple 61cm torpedo launchers, 4 twin 12.7cm gun mounts, protection against 8-in. shells, 4 twin 25mm guns, and 2 twin 13mm machine guns. The cruiser held all of this equipment within the 8,500-ton displacement limit. When naval treaties were removed, the ship was outfitted with 20.3cm gun turret, which caused the ships to be top-heavy and unstable. The Mogami underwent numerous reinforcement modifications such as hull strengthening, resizing of the bridge, and repairing cracks and hull plate. The Mogami was involved in the WWII invasion of Java at Bantam Bay, the Indian Ocean raids in the Bay of Bengals, Midway Invasion, and was defeated by a torpedo from Akebono off the coast of the Panaon Islands.

Due to various construction failures, three modifications were carried out, the first due to a lack of stability. In the second, the armament was changed from the 15.3 cm triplets to the larger 20.3 cm double gun turrets. The conversion to an aircraft cruiser took place from 1942 to 1943 after a failed submarine escape and a collision with the Mikuma as well as several bomb hits by American carrier aircraft. After further heavy battles against the enemy U.S. fleet, a heavy fire broke out on the ship in the fall of 1944. The remaining crew decided to leave the ship and sink it with torpedoes: The Mogami disappeared into the depths of the Mindanao Sea.

Article number: 300031614 Product: 1:700 US New Jersey Battleship WL The BB-62 USS New Jersey was the most decorated battleship in US Navy history from 1943 to 1991. In 1943 she was commissioned as the second of six Iowa-class battleships. Ships five and six, the BB-65 Illinois and the BB-66 Kentucky, however, were no longer completed and ultimately dismantled again. Like the other Iowa-class ships, the USS New Jersey had a displacement of 45,000 tons, an output of 212,000 hp and was armed with nine 16-inch (40.6 cm) guns spread across three triple turrets (2 fore and 1 aft) with a maximum range of up to 40 km. The ships of the Iowa class were 270.4 m long and had a relatively narrow hull of a maximum of 33 m, so they could easily pass the Panama Canal.
