The Fine Engraving Blade 0.4mm is a precision hobby tool for adding sharper surface detail to plastic models. Its tungsten carbide construction is designed for engraving panel lines and custom scribed features with a smooth, consistent finish, giving shells, fuselages and body panels cleaner definition under paint and weathering. This blade measures 25 mm in total length and uses a 2 mm shank, a format intended for controlled detail work with compatible holders. Recommended use is with the dedicated Engraving Blade Holder 74139, and it is also compatible with Fine Pin Vise D 74050 and D-R 74112. For use, the blade is held at a 45 to 60 degree angle and pulled lightly across the surface to score it, with repeated light passes used to build a clearly defined line. A color-coded marking on the shank identifies the blade thickness quickly when several sizes are kept on the bench. The supplied case stores up to 10 blades, which helps keep matching sizes together between projects and supports a tidier setup for ongoing model detailing.
