Article number: 300024163 Product: 1/24 Castrol Toyota Tom´s Supra GT The Japanese GT Car Championships were inaugurated in 1993, and are becoming more popular with motorsports buffs throughout domestic Japan. In addition to the highly modified Japanese cars, the super cars of Europe, like Ferrari, Lamborghini and Porsche, vie for the title. During the 1995 season Toyota entered a fleet of their race tuned Supra GT's into this popular event. Packed into the Supra look alike body shell was Toyota's latest racing technology. A 2,140cc, 4-cylinder turbocharged powerplant was taken from Toyota's Eagle Mk.III racing machine, which was active during the '93 IMSA races in the U.S.A. The X-Trac developed sequential 6-speed gearbox efficiently transmitted this engine's awesome power to the rear wheels. Four wheel double wishbone suspension components were taken from another Toyota prototype racer, the TS010. The body shell was extensively modified to obtain even better aerodynamics. Additional air intakes and outlets, oversized fenders and a huge rear spoiler, gave its massive silhouette and even more aggressive appearance. Four different racing teams used the Supra during the '95 season and among them, Tom's was sponsored by Castrol. Driven by skilled drivers Sekiya and Krumm, the Castrol Tom's Supra pleased the racing fans with its outstanding performance throughout the season.   Warning! The German Racing Championship (DRM) comprised two classes with displacements of 2,000 cm³ and more and under 2,000 cm³. The Ford Zakspeed Capri Turbo was a vehicle that challenged the BMW 320 Turbo. It made its debut at the eighth DRM round in Hockenheim in the summer of 1978 and was characterized by an extremely low front end, a wide body and eye-catching red and yellow markings on a black background. This car regularly raced in the leading group and took its first victory in the spring race at the Nürburgring in October 1978. (The first generation Dax in 1969 was recreated by Item 16002.) Following on from the popular Monkey (Z-series) bikes, the Honda minibike Dax was announced in 1969. The Dax had a distinctive T-bone frame crafted in pressed steel which housed the fuel tank, and centrifugal clutch engine. It was designed to be ridden by anyone, anywhere, and its charming, distinctive form was loved all around the world. Although its Japanese sales finished in 1981, the Dax returned in 1995 with a similar design to the original. Jointly developed by Nissan and TWR (Tom Walkinshaw Racing), the R390 GT1 is the state of the art racing expertise of them. Aerodynamically refined low and sleek body styling is suggestive of Nissan's highly competitive Gr. C machines raced during the 1980's. The 3.5 liter V8 engine, producing an awesome 600 horsepower output, is bolted directly to the carbon composite monocoque and works as a load-carrying element. The tremendous power is delivered to the rear wheels via a transversely mounted, six speed transmission. The four wheel double wishbone suspension system is connected to the horizontally mounted shock absorbers via pushrods and bell cranks to provide optimum road handling performance. Three R390 GT1's were entered in to the 1997 Le Mans event and, among them, the car No. 21 achieved a pole position in the pre-qualifying race. The GT3 cockpit is true reflection of its performance. It features leather-covered bucket seats, which ensure not only ample side support, but also comfort on long journeys and provide about 20kg of weight savings. And since the entire rear-seat section of the car has been dropped, the overall weight of the GT3 was reduced by another 8kg-a true benefit for a sports car of this performance level. Early in April 1957, a familiar looking small vehicle was seen to be running over the course with comparitive ease, and upon closer inspection it turned out to be the replacement for the well known Willy's "Jeep", the new Ford M151. Outwardly this new vehicle loos very much like its older brother. Both are small, compact, rugged, simple to operate and maintain; however, the 151 incorporates all of the latest advanced features learned during combat operations in conflicts since world war II. Features such as the newly developed OHV engine, light semimonocoque body and 4 wheel independent suspension systems allowed it to outpoint all other submitted replacement vehicles for the ageing WWII Jeep. Development for this replacement vehicle was started by the Ford Motor Company were licensed to produce the vehicle and they delivered approximately 10,000 units a year to the U.S. Army, Navy Air Force and Marines. Shortly after its adoption it was selected by most of the nations of the free world as a replacement for their own light utility vehicles. Some of the advanced features incorporated into the M151 caused problems and defects were detected in the initial shipments, among the most serious was the strength and stability of the rear suspension system which was corrected and improved in 1964 and 1970. The M151A2 now in service has added safety features like stiffer rear suspension, large blinder lamps and a two step windshield wiper, safety glass and an impact absorbing steering wheel. With its extreme versatitliy the basic M151 can be altered into a combat ambulance; radio communications vehicle; 105mm recoilless rifle transport and a launcher for the new tow missile system adopted in the late 70's. Combat experience in VietNam has shown that the Ford M151 Military Utility Tactical Truck (MUTT) is indeed a very versatile go anywhere combat weapon and is likely to remain in service for years to come with military forces worldwide. Just ten years prior to their 750F release, Honda opened up the field of multicylinder bikes with their now famous four cylinder CB750. Honda had won several Grand Prix motorcycle races with multi-cylinder bikes, and the CB750 was based upon these experiences. The engines worked flawlessly and provided very smooth power, and so shocked the industry that shortly many of the famous makers produced four cylinder large cubic motorcycles. Honda, of course, held the number one position in sales for many years, but then Kawasaki released their "Z" series DOHC 4 cylinder 750 bikes, and took over the number one position, relegating Honda to 2nd place. Honda, however, did not take this set back for long, and continued to improve their engines, and in 1979 released a CB750K DOHC with four valves per cylinder, a powerful 68hp, and new body styling. It was not long before Honda was again number one! The CB750F, released in June 1979 was styled after the very popular European Honda CB900F which had been copied from their racing RCB bike. This styling was new to stock motorcycles in the world. With the low positioned handle bars and rear positioned foot rests, allowed a "slouched" riding position. The style is setting the standard for the eighties. The CB750F is powered by a 4 cylinder DOHC 748cc engine with 4 valves per cylinder, and the 1981 version produces 70 brake horsepower. The bike has a double cradle frame of welded steel tubing, semi-air front suspension system, and FQV damped rear coils. Braking utilizes the dual piston caliper system, with dual discs in front and a single disc at the rear. A newly designed racing type front fender with spoiler has proved to be very popular among the bike enthusiasts. It was available as a roadster and as a fastback coupé – introduced in March 1965. The S600 was the first Honda available in two trim levels. During its production run up to 1966, the model styling would remain pretty much the same, with the most notable changes coming to the front grille, bumper, and headlights. The S600 got 57hp out of a 606cc 4-cylinder DOHC engine that could hold its own compared with racing engines, and it featured a motorcycle style chain-driven rear wheel drive. Exports to Europe followed as the S600 quickly gained respect, gaining popularity as a highly lightweight and speedy sports car. It was also to prove a success in races both inside and outside of Japan. Article number: 300024218 Product: 1:24 Subaru Impreza WRC '99 The 1997 World Rally Championships saw a relaxing in the rules pertaining to vehicle modification. Subaru was the first team to take advantage of the leeway, bringing out the Impreza WRC. That machine featured all aluminum horizontal four cylinder turbo engine paired with a vertically mounted gearbox. The layout placed the gearbox in a balanced position behind the front axle, heightening manerverability and ultimately contributing to a Mnufactures Championship for that year. The bulk of the improvements to the 1999 model centered around the engine and gearbox. Foremost was the adoption of an electronically controlled throttle system. This system converts the position of the throttle in to electronic signals, heightening throttle response. The Impreza WRC was also equipped with a 6-speed, semi-automatic gearbox. This system enables sudden shifting, such as from 6th to 1st gear. Work is also continuing on the development of an electronically controlled damper system. The Impreza WRC is driven by J. Kankkunen, R. Burns and B. Thiry. Kankkunen and Burns finished in 1st and 2nd place respectively at both the 7th Argentina Rally and the 10th Finland Rally. The 8th Acropolis Rally was also taken by Burns, setting the scene for an intense contest in the latter half of the season.

That well-balanced machine was equipped with a powerful horizontally opposed 4 cylinder turbo engine, and secured that year's Manufacturers Title. In the following years, various improvements were made to the car in accordance with changes in the production model. The 2001 Impreza adopted a four-door sedan body and first showed itself at the season opener, the Monte Carlo Rally. The unique appearance of the car was highlighted by small compound headlights, spoiler attached to the extreme rear and blister-style fenders. The rear mounted engine is the hallmark of the 911 series, powered by a water cooled, horizontally opposed six-cylinder unit. Article number: 300035125 Product: 1:35 US M151A2 Fiord MUTT w/TOW-Miss.(1) The familiar Jeep was born during WW2 and it is said that it contributed greatly to the allied victory during that time. Following the conflict, this vehicle was widely used by most countries of the world as a small transport for the ground forces and later employed large calibre weapons systems for ground combat support. The U.S. Army first utilized this small vehicle in ground support firepower, by mounting the newly designed 105mm recoilless rifle in the rear of the Jeep. This weapon was developed to combat heavily armoured tanks and other tracked vehicles; however it was later adapted to anti-personnel operations with the development of anti-personnel shell charges. When the newer 106mm recoilless rifle came into being, it replaced the 105. This weapons system was mounted in the rear part of the Jeep, but could be also dismounted on a tri-pod for fixed use. As the old jeep became replaced with the newer M151 Ford MUTT, the 106 was also adapted to it. When the M151A2 was released during the late 70's, the model with the 106 rifle mounted was called M825. It had a beefed up rear suspension system to accept the rifles added weight of 325kg. Shortly the TOW missile system replaced the 106 recoiless rifles, as the main anti-tank mobile weapons system. Development of the TOW system began in the 1960's as a replacement for the large and heavy recoilless rifles. It was combat tested during the Vietnam conflict and proved its power and accuracy. It was further improved and finally replaced most of the 106's still in service. Officially it is called the BGM-71A; however, it is most widely called the TOW missile system which stands for Tube launched, Optically tracked, Wire guided, missile system. When the missile is fired at a target, the shooter maintains the target in the cross hairs of the sight. The infrared rays of the missile exhaust are sensed by the optical sight and the computer compensated for the speed of the target and missile, guiding it via the wire trailing back to the vehicle. A far greater percentage of hits are recorded with this system, and it is easier to operate. Maximum range for shooting is 3750m which is much greater than the 1097m effective range of the 106.
