Plastic & Soft Metal Scissors bring controlled cutting to model making, workshop prep and general craft tasks with anti-rust treated stainless steel blades and a compact 170 mm format. The 40 mm blade length supports close work on sheet materials, while the navy blue grip gives a clear, secure hold during repeated trimming passes. These scissors are designed to handle a broader range of materials than standard scissors. Cutting guidance covers Tamiya Pla-plate up to 1.2 mm, Tamiya Clear Pla-plate up to 0.5 mm, polycarbonate up to 1.0 mm and other plastics up to 1.0 mm. Softer metals are also within scope, including aluminum up to 0.5 mm and copper, brass or nickel up to 0.3 mm. Beyond model materials, the blades can also be used on leather and paper up to 2.0 mm, plus cardboard or rubber sheeting up to 5.0 mm. These figures are intended as a guideline for material choice and cut planning. On the bench, the narrow blades suit body shell trimming, sheet shaping and careful cut lines where bulky household scissors can get in the way. The broad material range also makes the tool useful for mixed-media hobby work, from preparing templates in paper to refining thin metal or plastic parts for custom builds.
