1:35 US M113A2 Desert, plastic model kit

This 1:35 plastic model kit depicts the U.S. M113A2 in Desert configuration, combining the compact tracked shape of the armored personnel carrier with the field equipment and recognition fittings seen on later-service vehicles. At 153 mm overall length, the finished build brings the low hull, open hatch area and heavily equipped exterior into a format that reads clearly on a shelf or in a diorama scene. The M113A2 version entered production in June 1979 and introduced changes based on Vietnam combat experience, including an improved transmission, revised operating equipment, an upgraded cooling system and reinforced suspension. On this kit, the desert-specific configuration is expressed through the enlarged trim vane, front-mounted smoke dischargers, rear and side external fuel tanks and Combat Identification Panels. The build can be finished as 1 of 4 vehicle markings, with decals for 3 vehicles deployed to Iraq and 1 vehicle deployed to Bosnia-Herzegovina. Commander and driver figures support a crewed display, while extra equipment and ammo cases help create a vehicle loaded for movement or patrol duty. Assembly takes about 600 minutes. Paints, cement and tools are required separately. The finished model suits military miniature displays, Gulf War and Iraq War vehicle lineups, and diorama scenes where external stowage, crew presence and unit markings carry the historical setting.
