1:35 US M8 Howitzer, plastic model kit

This 1:35 scale plastic model kit captures the U.S. M8 Howitzer Motor Carriage with the distinctive silhouette of its open topped turret, short barrel 75 mm howitzer and fully tracked chassis. The finished subject draws on the WWII self propelled howitzer that entered service in 1943 and was used for fire support across the Italian, North West European and Pacific theaters. The build focuses on visible structure as much as outer shape. Weld lines and bolt details are reproduced across the hull and turret, while the fighting compartment gains extra depth from interior elements such as the loading section, ammunition area, gun sights and crew seating. The 12.7 mm M2 machine gun is also represented, adding another key feature to the turret layout. Three figures are included to stage the vehicle in the Awaiting Orders scene, and 3 types of markings support different finishing directions. Assembly time is stated as 600 minutes. Cement and paints are required separately. On the bench, the model suits careful painting, decal work and weathering, with the open turret leaving more of the interior visible once complete.
