The German Schwimmwagen Type 166 (item number 35224, scale 1:35, with narrow tires) has been a bestseller since 1998. TAMIYA now presents a Schwimmwagen kit with wide tires, additional equipment such as the MG34 machine gun and two new figures.
The European geography, criss-crossed by rivers and characterized by wetlands, presented the Wehrmacht with major military challenges and prompted them to develop the Schwimmwagen, an amphibious vehicle based on the Kübelwagen designed by Ferdinand Porsche.
With a 4-cylinder 25 hp petrol engine, the Schwimmwagen reached a top speed of 80 km/h on land. The three-bladed rear propeller was lowered manually via a rod and enabled speeds of up to 10 km/h in the water. Due to a shortage of materials, many Schwimmwagens were equipped with 133 mm tires, while the wider 200 mm tires offered significantly better off-road mobility.
Warning! Not suitable for children under 14 years.
