1:48 Sd.Kfz.251/1 Ausf.D, model kit, half-track

This 1:48 Sd.Kfz.251/1 Ausf.D model kit captures the look of the German half-track personnel carrier in a compact scale that still leaves room for strong surface detail and a busy display presence. With an overall length of 126 mm and a width of 48 mm, the finished vehicle suits shelf display, diorama scenes and focused painting work without demanding a large footprint. The Ausf.D version is represented here as a troop carrier, and the build centers on the vehicle's distinctive combination of front wheels and rear tracks. Tamiya reproduces the interior and undercarriage with fewer parts to keep the assembly process approachable while preserving the structure of the cabin and lower hull. The assembly type tracks are shaped to create a realistic sag effect, which gives the running gear a more natural look once installed. Three decal options are included, depicting Normandy and Eastern Front units, so the finished model can be taken in different historical directions. Two figures are included for added scene context: a commander in winter uniform and a soldier carrying an MG42 on his shoulders. Accessories such as the Panzerschreck, grenade cases and infantry equipment extend the display possibilities around the vehicle. Assembly is required and takes about 600 minutes. Paints, tools and cement are required separately.
