1:48 Grumman F-14A Tomcat, plastic model kit

This 1:48 plastic model assembly kit recreates the Grumman F-14A Tomcat with a fuselage length of 398 mm and a maximum wingspan of 408 mm. The aircraft's variable sweep wing is not only captured in shape but also depicted as a moving feature, giving the finished build the distinctive stance that defined the original carrier-based fighter in flight and on deck. The kit was designed with access to real F-14A Tomcats, and that focus shows in the airframe surfaces, intake contours and canopy form. Slide molding is used on the canopy, air intake sides and fuselage side sections to reproduce these areas with crisp geometry. The horizontal stabilizers remain movable thanks to poly caps, adding another functional detail once assembly is complete. The model also provides a choice between open or closed engine afterburner nozzles, and separate parts for the nose fuel probe and the ladder on the left side expand the finishing options. On the bench, the 600-minute assembly time supports a detailed build with room for careful painting and marking work. The 3 included marking schemes allow the aircraft to be finished as 2 U.S. Navy machines or 1 Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force aircraft, making the completed Tomcat suit both naval aviation collections and aircraft display shelves. Paints are required separately.
