1:48 Grumman F-14D Tomcat, plastic model kit

This 1:48 Grumman F-14D Tomcat plastic model kit recreates the late-version carrier fighter with a fuselage length of 398 mm and a wingspan of 408 mm when the variable sweep wings are fully forward. The shape of the airframe, the twin-tail layout and the moving wing mechanism give the finished aircraft a strong presence on the shelf or workbench. Tamiya designers studied the real aircraft closely to capture F-14D features such as the engine afterburner nozzles, vertical stabilizer details and fine panel lines across the fuselage. Slide molding helps reproduce the canopy, air intake sides and fuselage side sections with cleaner contours and more realistic depth. The cockpit is fitted with updated instrument panels and ejection seats, and the kit also includes 2 seated crew figures representing the pilot and Radar Intercept Officer. Marking options allow 4 different finishes, and masking stickers are included to support cleaner canopy painting. The parts selection supports more than a single display style. Late-variant Phoenix, Sparrow and Sidewinder missiles are joined by a drop tank, laser- and GPS-guided bombs, a LANTIRN targeting pod, a TARPS reconnaissance pod and a jamming pod. Assembly is required, with an indicated build time of 600 minutes. Cement, paints and hobby tools are required separately.
