1:35 Hetzer Mid Production, assembly kit

This 1:35 assembly kit recreates the German Tank Destroyer Hetzer in its mid production form, combining the low, compact hull of the Jagdpanzer 38(t) with the sharply sloped surfaces that define its silhouette. The fixed Pak 39 L/48 75 mm gun and 4-crew layout place the vehicle firmly in the late-war tank destroyer category, giving the finished model a focused, purposeful presence on the shelf. The design is based on the Panzerkampfwagen 38(t), a foundation that shaped the Hetzer's compact proportions and enclosed fighting compartment. Tamiya developed this release with brand new moldings for the 1:35 scale version, adding details such as the top-mounted remote control MG34 position and periscopic binoculars that distinguish this production stage. The real vehicle entered development in 1943 as a purpose-built replacement for interim tank destroyers such as the Marder, and 2,584 were produced by May 1945. That production history matters here because the kit focuses specifically on the mid production configuration rather than blending features from earlier or later vehicles. With an assembly time stated as 600 minutes, the build suits model sessions that unfold over several stages, from chassis and hull work to painting and markings.
