1:48 Republic P-47D Thunderbolt, plastic model kit

This 1:48 plastic model kit recreates the Republic P-47D Thunderbolt Bubbletop with the broad fuselage, deep belly and large cowling that defined the late-production fighter. At 230 mm long with a 259 mm wingspan, the finished aircraft has a strong shelf presence and a shape that immediately stands apart among WWII single-engine subjects. The build focuses on configuration detail as much as outline. Separate flaps can be fitted raised or lowered, and the engine cowling flaps plus the intercooler air outlets on each side of the fuselage can be shown open or closed. Parts are provided for 3 mirror types, 3 gun sight types and 4 propeller types, allowing a more specific interpretation of the aircraft. External stores expand the setup further with 500-pound bombs, rocket launchers and 3 drop tank types. A pilot figure is included for the cockpit, and 2 decal options support different finished markings. Assembly is required, with a stated assembly time of 600 minutes. Cement and paints are required separately. On the bench, the combination of alternate fittings, external load choices and marking options gives the build a measured, hands-on rhythm; once completed, the model suits display with landing gear down and the late-war Bubbletop profile fully visible.
