The most famous one was and is the BB-63 Missouri. 212,000 horsepower enabled the heavily armed colossus to reach a top speed of 33 knots. The main armament consisted of nine 16 inch (40.6 cm) guns distributed in three triple turrets (2 fore and 1 aft) with a maximum range of up to 40 km. The ships of the Iowa class were 270.4 m long and had a relatively narrow hull of a maximum of 33 m, so they could easily pass the Panama Canal. The USS Missouri entered service in 1944 and participated in numerous operations in the Pacific War. On September 2, 1945, the Treaty of Unconditional Surrender of the Japanese Armed Forces was signed aboard the USS Missouri. With the outbreak of the Korean War in June 1950, the USS Missouri and her sister ships were used for fire support and relegated to reserve service in 1955. In 1986 the ship was completely renovated, modernized and equipped with the latest weapon technology. In response to improving Allied foes in the air, Bf109 G aircraft had the more powerful DB605 engine, and from the G-6 were equipped with dual 13mm MG131 machine guns that required the distinctive bulges on either side of the cockpit cowling known as "Beule." Some were even given a 20mm cannon gondola under each wing for further improved firepower. A more powerful cannon was added, upgrading from the L56, 88mm of the Tiger I to the Type 43 L71, 88mm high velocity gun. The chassis front armor was 150mm thick with 80mm thick side armor. The Henschel and Porsche companies came up with rival turret prototypes. After the trial production of 50 tanks with the Porsche turret, the Henschel design, with its extremely thick armor that measured 185mm on the front and 88mm on the side panels, was adopted for mass production. The Henschel turret itself was revised mid-way through production, from a stepped gun mantle to a smooth one. Due to the havoc wreaked by the King Tiger I during the final German offensive on the Ardennes front in December of 1944, the Allied forces that moved in on Berlin would fear the King Tiger up until the very last day of the war. As for the DKW NZ350 military motorcycle, production began in 1940. However, this German military motorcycle experienced mid-production changes when resources became limited towards the end of the war. DKW NZ350s at that time were seen with smaller headlights and thinned-out fenders. The Leopard 2 A7V is an improved version of A7 (A7 is improved version of A6 and the "V" in the A7V designation stands for "verbessert" (improved) ), and features additional hull front armor and side skirts for improved defense. The suspension was also improved to help deal with the tank’s extra weight. The A7V inherits the A6’s L/55 120mm gun, but with the updated shell, the A7V can take on enemy armor up to five kilometers away.
