This largely newly-tooled model (only machine gun and clear parts are taken over from existing models) gives it the glorious detail of the larger 1/35 scale. The astonishing success of German armor tactics in 1940 prompted U.S. forces to adopt a doctrine requiring dedicated new tank destroyers to counter them. After going down a few different design routes at the start of the process, they eventually hit upon the highly successful M10 design with well-sloped (if rather thin, to keep the vehicle light and maneuverable) armor plate, and the highly capable 3-inch (76.2mm) gun. Over 4,900 were produced, and took part in Operation Torch (the invasion of N. Africa), as well as fighting in Italy and the advance upon Germany that would bring the exhausting conflict to a close. Their current top-of-the-line "916" bike was unveiled to the public during the 1993 Milan Motor Show. In recent years, Ducati has been a dominant force at the World Superbike Championships. Their 916 was developed using the latest racing technology and expertise, and became a very effective base machine fore these Championships. Its 114 horsepower, 916cc, liquid cooled L-twin cylinder engine uses a computer controlled fuel injection system and Ducat's traditional Desmodromic valve operation system. This valve system uses cam mechanics for both opening and closing the valves, while a conventional system closes the valves with springs only. This powerful engine is mounted in a light weight and extremely rigid, chrome molybdenum steel tubular frame. The rear swing arm suspension uses a mono-arm for quick tire changing during competition. Showa's shock absorbers and Brembo brake calipers are used at both ends. The 916 has a 2-stage adjustable caster offset system. The VFR750R is a street-legal counterpart of the formidable RVF750 endurance racer which displayed remarkable potential in the world endurance championships. This bike follows the concept seen in the RVF750, including the use of space-age technology and components such as titanium, carbon-fiber, kevlar, and magnesium. It betters the earlier bikes by a wide margin. The VFR750R also uses a twin-spar aluminum box frame, Pro-Arm (rear swing arm), and a center-lock hub rear wheel. These superlative features and the RVF's racing reputation have made it a collector's item even before the first unit was off the production line. The 748cc, liquid cooled, V4 cylinder 16 valve engine has been kept compact to keep the VFR's overall dimensions very close to the current 500cc Grand Prix racers, for a minimum frontal area. About the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-12R Kawasaki's legacy of cutting-edge sportbikes has inspired motorcycle fans for generations. Recently, the call for 300km/h plus super sports bikes has motivated several manufactures to bring out powerful contenders. Kawasaki answered the call at the 1999 Paris Motorcycle Show, with the impressive debut of their all-new Ninja ZX-12R. This Ninja was reportedly created in the image of a fighter plane, which comes as no surprise considering that its slippery aerodynamics involved the cooperation of the Aerospace Division of Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. In fact, the ZX-12R spent more time in the wind tunnel during its development phase than any motorcycle in Kawasaki's history. The results are evident: small winglets on the sides of the fairing separate airflow around the bike; small wind deflectors on the lower forks deflect turbulent air from the engine; a long lip on the edge of the fairing further smoothens out airflow. Also, projecting just ahead of the front fairing, a large scoop takes advantage of higher air pressure, heightening intake efficiency. A monocoque frame backbone creates an airbox that allows air to pass through the inside of the bike for cooling in addition to ensuring overall rigidity. The powerplant of the Ninja ZX-12R is a fuel injected 4-cylinder 1,199cc engine that pumps out an abundant 178hp. Its four-into-two-into-one exhaust system features a titanium muffler paired with a catalyzer, which helps eliminate unburned hydrocarbons for cleaner emissions. Kawasaki brilliantly raised the superbike standard in performance, power and aerodynamics with their series flagship, the Ninja ZX-12R.

The wide, pull back type of handle bars and the forward placed foot rests, allow the rider to sit up as if he was on a horse. A separate looking, loose cushion seat is almost like sitting on a sofa, and it is positioned at a height of only 715mm. The 70hp 981cc twin cylinder is in the "V" format and transmits its power via an enclosed drive shaft for quiet, maintenance free operation. Now, Tamiya presents the rally version of the Alpine A110, representing the car that won the 1971 Monte Carlo Rally. The Alpine was developed by Jean Redele, who initially raced with the Renault 4CV. Although Germany had been forbidden to develop tanks after the defeat of WWI, it developed the Panzerkampfwagen I under the name of "agricultural tractor" to deflect suspicions of rearmament, and the Pz.Kpfw.I became a massproduced tank. The engine on the Ausf.B was upgraded to 100hp, nearly double the 57hp of the Ausf.A. Also, it had a 40cm longer hull, and a pair of 7.92mm MG13 machine guns were equipped. Because this firm had given attention and study to half tracks since 1928, they completed a prototype, named KMm7 as early as 1933. It soon developed into the KMm8 and KMm9, and in 1936 the KMm10 was put into production. As a creative and varied hobby, plastic model making is popular among children, adolescents and adults alike. With time, patience and skill, complex plastic model kits containing hundreds of small parts can be turned into eye-catching models.
Plastic model making – what are plastic model kits?
Plastic model kits are made primarily of plastic (and more specifically, polystyrene). In general, the focus of plastic models tends to be on detailed designs rather than functionality.
Most plastic model kits consist of so-called “sprues” (plastic frames) containing individual parts, which must be separated before assembly. Depending on the difficulty rating, the parts are either unpainted or come ready painted or printed. If the parts are unpainted, they must be painted using a brush or an airbrush pistol (paints must be purchased separately). With unpainted parts, you can decide whether to follow the template or create your own design. With the right know-how and experience, you can also create custom models by combining parts from several different kits – so-called “kit bashing” or “scratch building”.
What is the recommended minimum age for plastic model kits?
Plastic models are often highly detailed, and therefore require a certain amount of skill – an important factor to bear in mind before purchasing a model making kit for your child.
